Singer/guitarist Matt Pike was already renowned from stoner-heroes Sleep when he formed High On Fire in 1998. The latter band is often regarded as one of the heaviest in our time, with their crushing, sludge-tinged sound. The trio released their debut in 2002, and third album "Blessed black wings" (2005) basically spelt their major break on the metal scene. High On Fire have not only maintained, but increased their popularity, not least with their two most recent, universally praised albums, "Luminiferous" (2015) and "Electric Messiah" (2018). Their highly anticipated eighth album is expected to arrive in 2024.
