One of the great legends of US punk, Social Distortion formed in 1978 and their 1983 debut album swiftly established them as one of the hottest bands on the scene. Its followups "Prison bound" (1988) and mega classic "Social Distortion" (1990) greatly increased the band's fanbase with their country and western-influenced "cowboy punk". In later years, album releases from Social Distortion have been scarce but ever highly anticipated, and their eighth album is reportedly finally underway.
