Sweden's first ever heavy metal band, Heavy Load, will reunite and play at the Sweden Rock Festival next summer! This will be Heavy Load's first concert in Sweden since the summer of 1985!
Heavy Load was formed in the winter of 1974-1975 and their 1978 debut album is generally acknowledged as the starting point of the first wave of Swedish heavy metal. Since disbanding in the mid 80's, the legend of the band has kept growing and today they are known as one of the premier cult acts of the genre.
After years of persuasion attempts made by us at Sweden Rock as well as by many others, Heavy Load are now finally reforming, just in time for the 40th anniversary of their debut album. Their entire album catalogue will be re-released in reversed chronological order, with remastered sound and bonus content, starting with "Stronger Than Evil" (1983) on January 26th. Heavy Load will also be playing a very select few festivals around the world in 2018, among them the Sweden Rock Festival!
Heavy Load will be playing Sweden Rock's second biggest stage, Rock Stage, on Friday evening, June 8th. Original members Ragne and Styrbjörn Wahlquist and Torbjörn Ragnesjö will be accompanied by a new guitarist whose name is yet to be announced - but original guitarist Eddy Malm will also be on stage and the band promises to deliver a bombastic stage production!
